Jared Asch is National Director of Efficiency First, a non-profit national trade association representing home performance contractors. They are a public policy and advocacy organization. He has served as a policy advisor for national and statewide political candidates on energy and the environmental issues. Jared is also an Adjunct Professor at University of California at Berkley Extension where he teaches a class entitled, “Politics of Green Government.”

Leif MagnusonLeif Magnuson is an Environmental Scientist and Residential Green Building Coordinator at the U.S. EPA Pacific Southwest Regional office in San Francisco, CA. He has worked for EPA for 20 years. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biology from Stanford University.

Bruce MatulichBruce Matulich is the CEO & Executive Director at EGIA and has extensive experience in developing and implementing utility and third-party energy efficiency programs. Prior to EGIA, Bruce spent 18 years at Pacific Gas & Electric Company, leading its energy efficiency and load management activities as Director of Energy Efficiency Services and Director of Products and Services. At PG&E, Bruce managed the development and delivery of over 80 residential, commercial, residential and agricultural energy efficiency, and demand response programs.

Larry ZarkerLarry Zarker is the Chief Executive Officer of the Building Performance Institute, the professional credentialing organization for both the weatherization and home performance contracting industries. He directly oversees BPI's national expansion of affiliate organizations who deliver training and credentialing services in key markets throughout the country. He is responsible for the development of BPI's national standards relating to weatherization and home performance work, the certification process for weatherization and home performance professionals, the accreditation of home performance contracting companies, and the independent, third-party quality assurance covering the work of BPI Accredited companies. Larry also serves on the Board of Directors of Efficiency First, the trade association for America’s home performance workforce.

Duane Larson is the Director of the United States’ largest portfolio of energy efficiency programs at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. He has spent twenty- eight years doing energy efficiency at PG&E as an Energy Auditor, Program Manager, Supervisor, Manager, and Director. Duane is a former member of the National Fenestration Rating Council’s Board of Directors, a member of the Appliance Standards Awareness Project, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for both the TopTen USA and Home Energy magazine.

Mark Gaines, Director Customer Programs, San Diego Gas and Electric and Southern California Gas (Sempra Energy)

Mark Gaines is responsible for both utilities’ development and implementation of energy-efficiency and demand response programs for all customers. Gaines has worked for the Sempra Energy utilities for 22 years, holding positions of increasing responsibility in engineering, public affairs, environmental solutions and customer services.

Matt Plughoff has over 15 years of industry and consulting experience.  As one of the original authors of the Trane Comfort Specialist Manual, Matt has always been integrally involved in contractor sales and business development.  As an industry professional, Matt has won numerous awards as a Territory Manager for both independent and corporate distribution chains.  He has also served as a General Manager for a commercial and residential HVAC contractor, generating over $15 million in annual revenue with 15+% net profit.  His articles have appeared in the HVACR News and Contracting Magazine.  Matt is currently the Lead Consultant for Desert Consultants.  Based in Arizona, Desert Consultants specializes in marketing, advertising, sales, and business development training for the contracting industry.

Alice Perez is responsible for overseeing SMUD’s Customer Business Unit’s strategic direction which includes market research, program development and planning process, new business initiatives, operations planning, implementing technology initiatives and the financial performance of the Business Unit. She also oversees the design, administration and interpretation of the District's electric rates. Prior to this role Alice Perez was responsible for all of SMUD’s residential programs, products and services to over 500,000 residential customers.
 

SOUTHERN
Steve Galanter, Manager of Strategic Planning and Technical Services, SCE Energy Efficiency Division

Steve Galanter manages Southern California Edison’s Energy Efficiency Division’s Strategic Planning and Technical Services group. His responsibilities include the management of long term energy efficiency strategic planning, development and management of engineering savings estimates for energy efficiency program operations, tracking systems coordination, green house gas issues as they relate to energy efficiency, and is also responsible for quality assurance for the Division. Steve has a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal State Northridge and a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA.
