Can you spell Home Performance?  Not without the acronyms of several leading national organizations!  This Contractor Web Exchange will introduce you to key national organizations for home improvement contractors who are thinking about entering into the home performance business.

Meet the organizations that can help your company succeed!  Learn how to distinguish from among all the national, regional, state and local organizations representing issues related to the home improvement and home performance contracting companies to determine those organization that best represent your company’s interest. 

This Web Exchange will introduce five leading organizations that bring information and value to your industry.  Each presenter has an intimate knowledge of the industry and can provide you with valuable insights into what you should do next to prepare your company for growth in the new energy economy.

Amy Fazio is the executive director of ACI. She has more than 15 years of nonprofit experience in business development, fundraising and marketing, with three years in senior management. Amy received a Master's degree from Colorado State University in political science with an emphasis on environmental policy. As a campaign director for US PIRG, she began her career as a grassroots advocate and community organizer for consumer rights and environmental policy. Amy is an adjunct professor teaching a sustainability issues course and at Community College of Beaver County. She resides in New Brighton, Pennsylvania.

BPI represented by Tiger Adolf, Western Region Director, Building Performance Institute
 

 

 

Tiger Adolf is the Building Performance Institute’s Western Regional Director.  She brings to BPI more than 20 years experience working with federal and state agencies, as well as investor-owned, cooperative association and municipal utilities. Prior to joining the BPI team, Tiger was the Executive Director of the Wyoming Energy Council, Inc., non-profit corporation that pursued its mission of natural energy resource conservation through residential energy retrofit. She directed three crews performing more than 300 retrofits per year in 18,000 sq miles as part of the Wyoming Weatherization Assistance Program Wyoming.   Tiger launched Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program in Wyoming, taking the program state wide and driving the effort to make WEC the first BPI affiliate in Wyoming.

Gregory Thomas has thirty years experience in building performance, as a consultant, trainer, heating contractor, home performance contractor, director of an energy service company, energy and green building conference planner, as well as an energy program designer, implementer, and energy software developer. He built a blower door and started offering whole house audits in 1979. Greg was the first blower door trainer for the low income weatherization programs in Pennsylvania and New York.  He is past president of Affordable Comfort Inc., and served on the Affordable Comfort board for over 15 years. He is President of Efficiency First, the home performance contractor trade association. He was the ACEEE 2010 Summer Study residential program design track co-chair, and has been elected to the RESNET Board of Directors.

EGIA represented by Stephen M. Self, Vice President, Electric & Gas Industries Association

   

Prior toStephen Self joining EGIA this month, Stephen was owner of Sustainable Interiors in Boulder, Colorado where he worked as a general contractor to integrate energy-efficiency and improved indoor-air-quality into remodeling and renovation projects with a focus on existing homes.  As principal of Able Ideas Consulting in Boulder, Stephen organized and built a mentoring program for energy auditors and home performance contractors serving community non-profits, seniors and veterans. He is certified as a BPI Building Analyst, RESNET HERS Rater, RESNET Green Rater, and AIA Registered Provider.  Stephen earned a Master’s degree in Classics from St. John’s College Graduate Institute and an undergraduate degree in Cognitive Science from Pennsylvania State University.  Prior to attending college, Stephen served as a United States Marine. 

RESNET represented by  Barb Yankie, Green Building Consulting & Homes+, Inc. 

   

Barb Yankie is President of Green Building Consulting, LLC and Homes +, Inc. The companies provide energy efficiency audits, Energy Star certifications, infrared diagnostic surveys, LEED certification and other testing and consulting services for the residential and commercial structures. Barb is a certified HERS Rater, Builders Challenge Verifier and Level II Thermographer (ASNT complaint). She has conducted training sessions for builders, contractors, inspectors, realtors, and others. Additional affiliations and certifications include: Residential Energy Services Network National Board of Directors, NAHB 2008 & 2009 Energy Value Housing Award National Judge, Building Performance Institute Technical Advisory Committee, and Habitat for Humanity Partner.
